TOKU – Vocalist / Flugelhorn Player

Japan’s only vocalist and flugelhorn artist. Debuted in 2000 with the album “Everything She Said” under Sony Music.
His versatile musical expression, transcending the boundaries of jazz, has led him to collaborate as a composer and performer on albums by artists such as Ken Hirai, Miki Imai, and Maki Ohguro.

In 2008, his album “Love Again” featured EXILE’s ATSUSHI on the track “Dust Song.” Following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, he also joined Cyndi Lauper’s Japan tour.
Often described as “jazz at heart, with no fixed address,” TOKU continues to explore wide-ranging musical horizons.

In recent years he has performed across Europe, the United States, and Asia, engaging in collaborations with musicians around the world.
His 2020 album “TOKU in Paris,” recorded in France, was released both in France and Japan.
He has since expanded his international presence, releasing the orchestral Christmas EP “Season’s Greetings” (2021) and his first career-best album “BESTOKU” (2022).

Yosuke Onuma – Guitarist

Born in Akita Prefecture. Winner of the 1999 Gibson Jazz Guitar Contest.
Debuted in 2001 with Sony Music.

In 2004, he recorded the trio album “Three Primary Colors” in New York, featuring Richard Bona (bass) and Ari Hoenig (drums).
In 2010, he released “Jam Ka,” a groundbreaking work inspired by the traditional Guadeloupean drum “ka,” creating a distinctive musical world rooted in global rhythms.

His 2016 album “Jam Ka Deux,” recorded in Paris, led to performances in jazz clubs in Paris and Munich, the Martinique Jazz Festival, and the “Festival Eritaj” in Guadeloupe—the cultural home of gwo ka.

Grounded in jazz yet shaped by his travels and multicultural influences, Onuma continues to create music that connects the world through sound.
His latest release is his first solo guitar album, “Your Smile.”

We are the world’s first to utilize hydrogen-based cooking.
Madoka no Mori is committed to decarbonization, embracing the concept of Green Luxury.

In this plan, we grill the steak using a hydrogen-based cooking method.
We source our Wagyu beef from Omi, Shiga Prefecture, Japan.

As of July 2023, we invite you to experience our exclusive hydrogen-based cooking, available only at our ryokan.

※Hydrogen cooking is currently available exclusively with our Wagyu beef steak plan.

Hydrogen cooking is an innovative cooking method that utilizes hydrogen as a fuel source, cooking food in specialized equipment without emitting carbon dioxide.
Hydrogen’s key characteristics are its high combustion temperature and odor-free properties. Additionally, when hydrogen (H2) reacts with the oxygen (O2) in the air, it produces water (H2O), which increases the humidity around the combustion area.
This feature results in a savory and juicy finish (the sensation may vary depending on the food) by preserving the food's natural aroma, ensuring a perfectly cooked exterior, and retaining moisture within.

This plan includes in-room dining service for both dinner and breakfast.

【Dinner】18:00~/18:30~
We offer monthly Kaiseki cuisine course prepared by Executive Chef of Madoka no Mori and its sister ryokan, Gora Hanaougi.

【Breakfast】8:00〜/8:30〜/9:00〜
Rice cooked in a kettle, warm miso soup, and a variety of main and side dishes will make you feel satisfied in the morning.

※We are unable to accommodate vegetarian menus (except for pesco-vegetarian), complete seafood allergies, gluten-free meals, or religious dietary requirements such as halal or kosher food.

※Room 212, 306, and 307 in-room dining service are unavailable for 4 or more guests. Dinner and breakfast will be served at private dining room.
